Err ! Corrections to my previous statements ...
Apparently Lightnings were armed with ADEN cannons not Rarden Cannons, and the missiles were Firestreaks not Sparrowhawks. I'm getting on a bit now and the old memory ain't as good as it was. Never was much good at remembering names anyway. I'm now not quite sure exactly what the belly pod we nearly nicked contained. It was a rotary six barrel job, loaded with 1" diam explosive head ammo. At a guess I'd say this was it, but it was mounted in a detachable belly pod. ... Johnny. |

A question if I may?
Did you happen to do a Cessna 337 in 1/300 scale? I think I saw a pic in this thread. very interested if you did. And much respect for your work in this scale, I must say Wow!! Jeff |

Johnny,
Just for you - one Boeing cocking its wing. I'd like to say that it's a complicated system, but it's quite straightforward. For the main undercarriage, first I opened the u/c doors. Then I made two "T" shaped pieces, the "tail" longer than needed. I then eyeballed the wheels and settled on 2.5mm diameter. I have a stencil with holes of varying size so wheel making is easy ;-) I cut out eight pieces and added them to the cross bar of the "T". Next I eyeballed the ground clearance, cut the tails so they rested on the plane body and glued the "Ts" to the open doors. For the front wheel I made two wheels a bit smaller than the others. I cut one straigt piece of card and one in an "open V" this was attached to the straight piece and the wheels added. Again I eyeballed the lenght and glued it to the body. I also had to add some weight to the nose, so I cut a slit and pushed in a bit of "Blu Tac" - as you can see - the underside of the nose is a but untidy - keyhole surgery is not one of my strong points. Cheers Mike |

I only have it at 1/100 scale and I'm not sure it would be easy to scale down. It would be worth trying. and thanks. Bruno |

Either scale is cool with me. I like yours how it looks nice and tidy, even so small.

Thanks for the peek Mike. Very simple, but effective. No real need for superfluous detail in this scale, eh?
Any of Bruno's aircraft will look good on your airfield, but I'm afraid that cathedral is just too big, even if it is the same scale. Incidentally, that radar tower is far too close to the runway, but I do note that the individual models can be rearranged. Progress report ... Bison has a fuselage and wings, but not joined together yet. I need to fit the engines before fixing the wings on, and I had to consult the thread for a picture to find out where to position the chin turret. Keep on snippin' ... Johnny. |
