The F-4B in VF-84 markings is also from the same period and was used against North Vietnam. The F-4B in VF-111 markings is correct for the period too, I think (early 70ies?).

The phantoms with adidas stripes on the fuselage are from a training unit based in the US during the 70ies.

That's all that comes to mind at the moment.
That is what I understood as well from documentaries and the internet: the air force F-4s were more often used as fighters, while the Marines used them more as ground support. But I'm not as expert as you, Carlos.

I finally got round to finishing the F-104 Tiger Meet model.
Alignment came out surprisingly correct (for a test build).
Here some pictures.

Gorgeous F-104 Bruno!
You're very brave, misalignment have always been my biggest fear when repainting airplanes.
Congratulations!
Ronan

The USAF Phantoms were also used as bomb trucks. But Operation Bolo was a dedicated Air superiority operation where the F-4C of 8th TFW used routes, procedures and radio calls from F-105 units to lure the north-vietnamese MiGs into a trap.

The VMFA-321 Phantom is from a reserve unit that didn't deploy to SEA. They replaced their Crusaders with Phantoms in 1973.

That Tiger looks so pretty!

Thanks once more for your kind words. (I know I don't say thanks all the time, but be assured that I do appreciate all the kind remarks. and the constructive ones)

I actually saw this plane for real when I was a kid (11 years). My father had been squadron leader of the 31st "Tiger" squadron in Kleine Brogel (Belgium) a few years earlier so we had a rather VIP treatment during our visit.

It will make a nice present for father's day.

Every day I pray that Bruno began to paint their models to the new. While the gods of scissors and paper do not hear my prayers. I decided to dare, and humbly offer a new way of painting models. It seems to me - so much better. I hope you share my point of view.
The picture shows the same detail to the "classic" version, and "advanced" version.

I googled "Phantom ii in vietnam" and I found a Wikipedia page where i see this picture.

and the title is " F-4B VF-111 dropping bombs on Vietnam",
and in the Bruno's bundle there is this

Perfect! Dilemma solved!
Thanks for your help.
Now I can start my build.

Best, Nando
