Airplane: P-51D Mustang
Real Airplane Owner: Tom Cruise
scale: 1/100
Design: Bruno Vanhecke
recolor: Juan Angel B747

this is the P-51D Mustang owned by Actor and pilot Tom Cruise which was used in the sequel to one of his most iconic films “TopGun Maverick” as the plane of the daredevil pilot and navy cadet Pete Mitchell “Maverick” apart that this plane appears in the music video of the song “Hold My Hand” by Lady Gaga and was also the protagonist in one of James Croden’s shows where Tom Cruise teaches him the art of dogfight both in that plane and in an L- 39 albatross, without counting the stories of that plane when it was in action, it is definitely a fairly iconic plane, which is why I recolored it.

I'm a bit sick and stuck at home so I used this opportunity to build this little La-9 from recent bundle by Bruno. It's number 4850 and can be found here:

1/100 snp Lavochkin La-9 and 11 Bundle Paper model - EcardModels

Chinese communist forces received a batch of airplanes from SU just prior to Korean war and they were used in early engagements along with Yak-9,Il-10,Tu-2 and possibly some other piston engine planes. They were replaced with Mig-15 as soon as crews were sufficiently trained. La-9 stayed in training and secondary use up until 1960 or so. Number of them are preserved in mainland museums but they have been used for various experiments and in technical schools for so long they are unlikely to be in complete and unmodified state.

I tried (again) successfully making this model in 1:72 scale. Pictures speak for themselves. Model lacks prop and undercarriage because it will be a gift to a very eager son of one of my GF friends . I hope he enjoys it

Nice model from Lavochkin stable Karol!

I found an information a while ago that after WWII there was a huge illiteracy in Korea (up to 80% of populatin), and a lack of technical skills in general.

Apparently, that was the main reason why the number of North Korean pilots never exceed 200.
Also, some of the future pilots were coming from maritime academy.

Anyway, they had to put a massive effort to get the pilots flying those machines.

Kind regards

Anybody used this section from the Vietnam era weaponry page? I am arming a jet and want to use it, but am not entirely sure how it is assembled. I think I have an idea, but am not sure.

That's a SUU-16, or SUU-23 gun pod. It is assembled pretty much the way it is layed out.
Look up a quick pic of the SUU-23, and it shows how to form the forward cover.
