Red stars on Sabres! The oddities of the cold war!
(Yugoslavia also got Thunderjets)

Also, the Pakistani Sabres did well against the Hunters.
And yes, it is odd to see a red star on a sabre!!! |

#1997 is an example from the Royal Thai Air Force.

Many countries used the Sabre. Almost as many as the Mig 21
Here is my first try at the sole remaining F-86 family member missing: The F-86C or YF-93. Almost where it should be. A few refinements will be required nonetheless. B |

I am not very familiar with the different types of the Sabre, so can you please verify something:
Is the 1996 YuAF an F86 D model? and 2nd is the 2000 Colombian AF an F86E model? Thank you! |

Yugoslavia received 121 ex-RAF Canadair Sabre Mk 4 and 130 ex-USAF F-86D.
Colombia received 6 Canadair Sabre Mk 6 and 3 ex-spanish F-86F. As far as I know, serial 2021 was a canadian-built Sabre mk 6. There's an F-86K in a colombian museum but it was a gift from Venezuela. The Canadair Sabre Mk 4 was equivalent to the F-86E while the Mk 5 & 6 used the F-86F airframe (but with a canadian Orenda engine).
