I'm sorry. There was a coloring mistake. Although I have pics of a model with that extended black area around the canopy (same as on the VFA-103 CAG bird), the pictures of the real plane show a smaller black area, like the cover of the current (april) issue of Combat Aircraft.

edit: Actually, the previous pdf may have shown the 2004 version of that scheme. Anyway, it wasn't the variant I was targeting.

I just built S&P's TIE Raptor, and thought I share a couple of pics. Assembly was very easy - much like building one of Bruno's minions, with the addition of some extra small parts. The base is simply a heavy cardboard disc on which I glued a free texture of a galaxy far, far, away. I ran a paper strip from the galaxy texture around the perimeter. The mounting stalk is a Q-Tip shaft wrapped in the same texture. The TIE Droid and Defender models are already printed and ready to go. I'll be building them this weekend at the paper modeling event in Carlisle, PA. I hope Bruno decides to create more models from the Star Wars Universe.

Not a request but there are other operators of the plane, plus the aggressor schemes!
And I didn't want the tread to the second page of aviation!

I need to finish at least one build before I do any more recolors. So far my build of the VMFA-333 F/A-18A is still a fuselage lacking nose, canopy, and exhaust cans. And I can't really add the spine without glueing the wings first.

That's a cute TIE Raptor, Don, and a very nice stand.

Thanks for your comment, Carlos. I've made 3 copies of the base and plan to display all 3 of Bruno's TIE spacecraft in the same way.

Hello again.

Thank you all for the contributions and recolors, here or in other threads.

I have been absent for a while due to some sad news in the family.

Today I finally got back to building one model. Here are the usual pictures. (some small modifications are needed. And even with some weight it remains a tail sitter)
