Sygrod, thank you very much for the pictures. That looks more like how I expected the engines should look, with the fan and aft circle inset within the cowling. I am puzzling over the assembly sequence and will be grateful for any furhter hints, but those pictures are a big help.

Papermate and Bruno, thanks again for the pictures. The mystery pieces are the gun tub supports for the quad bofors on each side of the bridge.

If I remember correctly I created more elaborate engines later in the series (with a receding fan). Just checked: only for A330 with other type of engines. Perhaps removing the tabs might help. Another in the fifties row: the Stratojet. The only improvement i did is the inlet cone for the engines. The design is beautiful , as well as the rendering of the elegance of this plane.
