Ray,

This will be an interesting build of a unique aircraft. The dashboard looks fantastic.

Good luck!
Gary

Side walls

Todays work consisted of the cockpit side walls. Modifications include
interior framework, built up first aid kit, misc boxes, trim wheel (I assume)
cables, circuit breakers, etc. Also, I grunged up the cockpit, to help
even out and tone down the blue, giving a slight more used appearance.

Ray, nice work on "grunging up" the cockpit. Does the world for realism. I take it that is done after the fact so to speak, with crayons or something? Never dared to take that step myself. Always admires those who dare. - Leif

Seems that Ryan was not the only one to come up with a fighter with both a piston and a jet engine

Hybrid power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Certainly an interesting powerplant concept. It is a compound type engine in which supercharged ( compressed air ) is burned. In a real jet engine, there is a turbine to spin the compressor. Here there is none.

This type of design actually was built in Italy in the late 30's - The Campini Caproni was used as a propaganda tool by Italy to claim the first jet powered aircraft. However, it is not a real jet, and it is very inefficient, throwing lots of fuel into a chamber and getting little added thrust.

This is what you will call today a "Hybrid" motor.

I think it is a very clever design and shows that we always are looking for something better.

Thank you for sharing your build of this very unique aircraft.

Isaac

Thank you all for the kind remarks, and the continued educational
enlightenment on this particular aircraft.

Leif, I use various shades of artist chalk powders for the weathering.

Keep on Cuttin'

Busy day IRL, just a few parts cut out and ready for modification.
Still lots of parts to add and weather.

I have a club meeting tomorrow, and will take the previous few parts
to show as a WIP (work in progress). Can't say enough good things
about the folks in my club. Modelling is modelling, no matter what you use.

Come together

Very busy week again, so not alot of construction. Spent a little time finding an edge
paint to match the blue. I took one of the larger parts with me to Hobby Lobby, and
found a blue that is within a shade of being a perfect match. Working on putting larger
assemblies together in preparation for adding details. The basic seat, rudder pedal
assembly, instrument panel and side consoles are done.

After looking at the side consoles, I decided they were considerably flimsy. So I
added some small braces to give them some support during the upcoming detailing
and ageing sessions. This you can see in the first picture. The second picture is of
the components ready for details.
