MIG21 by Ojimak

Ojimak has just released the MIG21 with W German markings of the 70's.
This one is really a flyer that flies very well. I have removed the dotted lines
and modified the nose section a little so that the nose cone is recessed into the
air intake. Thus, the plane looks more realistic and I bet Ojimak san wouldn't
mind as long as I just keep it for myself and not distribute it to others.

So I'm proud to say that I have just built the first flying MIG21 paper plane.

Very nice job.... I think the nose cone depth may have been "variable" to control air flow...? Did you have to weight it for "flyability"?

Man you're quick! I just started scoring the lines!

Your build is really good.

Here's a pic of that very same aircraft. It was painted like this in 1990/1991 for the disbandment of the JG-1 from the former East-German Air Force. The air force of unified Germany only kept the MiG-29 and quickly retired everything else.

Hi, nebeltex, I didn't weight the paper to put into the nose cone and nose section.
What I did to the nose cone was to double glue it with a short paper roll.
The purpose of the roll is to absorb impact. And as for the nose section, I used an
oval shape of cardstock the size as the coloured air intake plate as designed by Ojimak and
glued it in place. Inside the nose section, I pasted about 5 petals of waste envelope paper,
about 1-1/2 inches long to strengthen the nose section. Perhaps all these add up to give some
weight to the nose and thus the flyability to the plane as a whole.

The same aircraft a year later. Not in service anymore so the german crosses were overpainted.

That's a really good technique for the scale... very nice.
