der Kampfflieger, XFY-1 Pogo, 1/48 --> 1/33

Dear all,

today I start my first build presented on your site. I've chosen the Pogo since i's a rather simple model and should be finished quite fast.

The model can be downloaded from, e.g., http://www.hobbyfactory.com

I scaled it up to my standard scale of 1/33 and printed in on an ink jet printer which works better with my glue than laser prints.

Please find attached the cut out parts of the fuselage and the prepared tubes, ready for assembly:

Due to good fit, the assembling of the fuselage worked quite well. The only thing to pay attention for is to insert the formers of the wings before assembling the fuselage - it's the most simple way. Otherwise you might expand the holes and get consequently fit problems.

That's all for today, more to come hopefully tomorrow!

Thanks, Johnny

The build continues with the wings. The formers were shown on the previous pictures. Additionally one former was added to each wing tip:

Next step are both stabilizer and rudder. I added one former for each part to assure the required width of the parts:

Great Idea !!! Looks very good.

I think the models by Roman are very detailed. I think the scale well, I'm going to follow this thread with interest.

Very nice rutzes!

I've seen some film of the Pogo in flight, it looked like a real thoroughbred! It would have to be one of my favourite aircraft designs.

Great subject and build, I'll looking forward to more!

Alcides,

my impression my be wrong since I scale all my models to 1/33 therefore the detailing is not very high. For 1/48 it might be different. Nevertheless there are not so many Pogos as card models (e.G. Geli and MON which are nearly never found, even not on ebay) and the Fiddlers Green version is much less detailed.

Compared to for example the MiG-31 or Su-34 from Fly Model, detailing is pretty poor. I nevertheless like planed which can be completed within a week ;-)

Gearz, there is for sure more to come! Just wait and see - if everything goes well it will be extended to a whole series!

Cheers, Old Rutz
