Tiny Fokker DVII

Hello fellow DVII fans! ...
Last week I posted a thread on my design-build of the Great war fighter plane. Since that time after looking around our forum.....there is much talent here with all of the mini-builds that are going on. Having said that, I have been bitten with the mini-build bug! (I googled that....no such critter) any way...Here are some pictures of my very first mini-plane that I have ever attempted. I didn`t get carried away with it, but at somepoint I`m going to give it another go. A complete squadron of the "Flying Circus" would be fun!

Working off the picture of the plane compared to the ruler, the wingspan is about 9.9cm.

Wingspan of a Fokker D VII is 875 cm.

875cm/9.9cm = 88.4

Thus, the scale is about 1/88 (very close to HO scale).

Very pretty model, Bill.
At those scales these WWI planes are rather difficult to build (and to design).

That is one pretty tiny Fokker. Makes me want to try it too...

Thanks Zakopius for the scale estimation. At one time I played around with rescaling fine 1/33 models of my liking to 1/87 (never built much more than a single one, though), since that was the scale where readily available figures could be had. Makes me want to try it again.

So, all in all, this was an inspiration.

- L.

PS, Bill, please look for the macro setting on your camera... Or, if you are using a phone like so many, keep a proper distance and crop the photo in a graphic programme. I want to see that little source of inspiration more clearly!

You people make me sick....I can't even see at that scale, and you build great looking models there! It would make my wife happy if that bug were to bite me, I got bit by the enlarge-it bug.......Rich

Tiny Fokker...

@Thomas Meek,
Its just that the ruler is small

@ Zakopios,
Thank You for the conversion! But what I did was divide my larger DVII by 4. This one is something like 1/8 inch equals 1 foot.

@Scissorsandplanes,
Thank You.....your work is the reason that I wanted to make a small one!

@Leif Ohisson,
My son should be over today...I`ll use his camera...Maybe SANTA will bring me a new one if I`m good, as I sure could use one on my other thread. I`ve been struggeling with picture quality!

@RichKat,
my wife would love if I did everything at this size!! Giving her more room for her stuff! But personally I like bigger! (like my LEM)

Which would make it even smaller, in the neighbourhood of 1/96.

Quite a respectable neighbourhood, as Robert de Niro would have said, if we were at the end of Midnight Run... - L.
