Hi guys!
I'm the manila folder guy. Thanks to YouTube analytics, I stumbled across this thread (as well as this AMAZING site). I thought I was completely insane but I discovered that there are lots of like-minded people doing absolutely breathtaking things here. The scales on which some people are working, and the amount of detail they manage to reproduce are just astounding. I guess I'm somewhat lucky to be making a "larger" (1:60) model, but it still has its challenges. Anyway, glad everyone has enjoyed the videos. I'm happy to answer any and all questions! Someone was wondering about my process, and I think the cockpit seat video explains it better than anything I could say here, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Basically, I look at images (and sometimes am lucky to have drawings of exterior dimensions) and I lay everything out in 2D in Illustrator. It's a very, VERY time-consuming process, unfortunately, but I do find it satisfying in a weird way, as it gives me a very intimate knowledge of the various structures of the plane. Anyway, once everything has been designed, and the thickness of the paper has been accounted for, I print directly onto the folder and assemble using glue. That's pretty much it! Again, as I said, the cockpit seat video will probably make much more sense than my explanation here. |

You have already answered some of the basic questions most of us could have. But I guess many other questions will arise.
As for myself, I'm just enchanted of seeing your process. Kind regards.
