Cool Blohm und Voss BV P.212.02 – Eric Son model

Blohm und Voss BV P.212.02 – Eric Son model

I am on a path to build some more Luft 46 aircraft models and will be adding to my collection of Luft 46 project planes in 1/33 scale.

For me, this is an interesting model and a worthy addition. I will add a bit of background on this project soon.

So far, I have built 12 of them in paper.
Link here to my collection:

Luft 46 German project planes

I have 2 more commercially available kits, but stumbled upon Eric Son models in our download sections. However, they were in 1/48 scale. While that is a good scale for some, I am committed to 1/33 scale that I have been building in. Eric was kind enough to upscale this BV P.212-02 to 1/33 scale ( many thanks Eric ).

The original 1/48 scale build by Eric is here:

Blohm & Voss P.212.02 (Luft46)

I made some modifications to the original kit. Primarily a clear canopy and a cockpit as well as structural strength to the wings and landing gear and made shaped wheels. Otherwise, it is a larger build of the original model.

Some info on the kit:

Eric's computer model. Some views from his original post:

Exclamation Some background on the project

This was another one of those emergency projects floated in 1945. Blohm und Voss were prolific in the designs they offered. Specifically, they had multiple flying wing designs.

Some details here on the Luft 46 page:

The P.212.02 is second version which is the subject of this build does not have vertical fins, but the outer panels are canted down. Not sure if it would have been a stable platform especially with the fuselage mounted narrow main landing gear.

Eric's great model production and Isaac's model building skills. This should be a real treat.

The parts

here are the fuselage parts.

The frames are nibbled out using a hole punch tool.

Start from the back

I started from the back first. Built the exhaust and add to the rear fuselage. Simple construction so far.

Nose section

The nose section has many rings due to the sharply curved forward sections. However, careful fitting and the use of the cut up tabs really help mate the sections together. I think that would be more difficult in 1/48 scale though.

The nose gear bay is next. After that the engine air intake duct.

Nicely done. Keep it up, Isaac. ...looking forward to seeing more of this one come together.

Are you thinking of adding any special payloads to this one?

What do you recommend? 4 of the X-4 missiles?
