Good luck on your build. I tried doing a flaps down a330 before but I never got around to completing it. I'm looking forward to how yours turns out.

Thanks, after I fix whatever alignment issues there are with the Qatar a330, already fixed 2 by the way, I will see how I can extend the flaps. I'm kind of thinking what I can use for wires and things.

Has anyone seen success or progress or disappointment with showing flaps and slats?
My son flies A321s, and I would prefer a take off configuration to landing gears on a model for him. The A321 takes off with slats and flaps extended. I have Paper-replika's model, recolor by Joshua Jung and it looks great. 100 scale is too tiny for my fat fingers, so I increased the size by a half. |

You can find videos on youtube extending/retracting flaps. Be carefull that a plane almost never uses full flaps unless the landing strip is too short.
And sometimes the t/o flaps setting is lower than the landing setting.

I used to have a picture of an A-321 that had one of the flap hinge fairings blow off in flight, exposing the mechanism. Unfortunately I lost the pic in a phone death.

what have people tried for the long slender parts making up the leading edge slats, and the foils making up the flaps? Laminated parts suggest themselves.
As Draco suggests, here is an A321 retracting flaps, showing the flap tracks swinging up into position. SAS Scandinavian Airlines A321 Oslo-Copenhagen Takeoff, Inflight, Crosswind & Unusual Landing RWY30 - YouTube (minute 5:00). |

Yes, aluminium foil over acetate or paper could be used, but we are entering in the area of "purist only paper" against "paper plus everything that works"

Here's an ancient thread in which I lowered the flaps on an A321:

This is great! Thanks a million. I envision a similar approach. For the slats on the leading edge, do you wish you had reshaped the wing's leading edge, or would that create more trouble and bad shape problems than its worth for the effect you got. (It looks like you added the slats to the existing leading edge?) Again, thanks for sharing, al |
