Thanks Janx :D
Well let it be known that letting a model sit in a box like that for 2+ years was not a good thing. The wings sagged and warped a little without proper support. I straightened them out and reinforced the struts with super glue. Now ready to move forward again. Tunnel gun installed. Props made but not glued in yet. Now for the real fun part for me. Touch up painting. Not easy as I am color blind :P G1 |

You are right about " letting a model sit in a box like that for 2+ years was not a good thing."
In 2011, I had to go into a nursing home for a couple of months because my immune system attacked my nervous system, I could not walk and my hands would not work. After I was released from the nursing home, I attempted to build the PTA SdKfz 222 but abandoned the build because my hands were still not working well. The model was finally finished in Dec 2013 and the chassis warped under the turret ring just like your wings warped. See: Einheits diesel and SdKfz. 222 |

Great looking Gotha!
I've never dealt with anything with that many struts, but one solution that I came up with (and is probably common knowledge to everyone else) was to attach the wings first using only the outermost set of struts, then do the inner ones (including the ones that go straight up from the fuselage). That way you can cut inner ones shorter as needed to match the distance set by the outer struts. I can always cut them shorter, I just cant extend them without creating new ones, so that's the solution I came up with. Also, what Camel did Janx base the repaint on? Looks great! Doug |

Thank You !
Got about a 90% recovery. My feet are both numb and half of left hand is numb. My hands now work well enough to build models. My goal was to become strong enough to walk the 95 Lb. Rottweiler again. About eight months after I was released from the nursing home, I was finally strong enough to walk my big black puppy again. However, it is about 3 degrees outside so we are not doing any walking today. Ken |

The turret was glued into the turret ring to prevent it from falling out.
While the glue was drying, pressure was applied to the chassis to make it closer to the turret. The warp is only noticeable when viewed from the rear of the vehicle. |

Doug,
Yeah she's got a lot of struts. It's more than enough to make you wanna bang your head. The Cow-Mel is from Roman's (Kampfflieger) 1/72 Camel. I find his models to be the absolute best for this scale. They are a perfect blend of easy to build and not overboard on detail. Fiddler's Green models also look good at this scale. Easy to build but lack in details at times. G1 |

Ken,
Glad you got so much back :D Important to be building again. More so to take care of the puppy :D Recovery time sucks. I broke fingers in my left hand back in 2008. It's still not as strong as it was. Your middle finger is the core of strentgh. I'm just glad I can still model after that. You did a great job on the warp issue. I say with experience a modelr just learns to hide his mistakes better :P G1 |
