Shalom Yes, I have 5 kits all together all from Hobby Model. They are very similar to each other. 2 of them are the single seat versions and 3 are the UTI trainer versions ( 2 seater ). The only main issue I have is the nose construction and accuracy. However, I am working on a way to assemble it a bit differently on the second build which I will start posting soon. The canopy for the 2 seat UTI will be a challenge. Everyone appears to be making an open cockpit option and the canopies are made of flat clear sheets which is wrong. Those have a slight curvature to them if you look at a profile. But that will be addressed later. The building log of the Mig-15bis will start soon. Isaac

Start build of the Mig-15 bis
The second build of my marathon is the Hobby model kit number 102. It is a Mig-15bis in Soviet AF marking with a red nose.
The red nose is commonly seen on the North Korean marking ( flown by the Soviets during the Korean war ). The red is a welcome color addition to an otherwise all silver aircraft. This kit does have some improvements over the previous kit which will be discussed later. The bis version is an improvement to the base Mig-15 . The improvements were as a result of the Korean conflict and lessons learned. Here is the kit and parts: Also, the laser cut frames And the resin wheels and a canopy from Squadron. Here we go. Second of five. Isaac

Fuselage parts
The parts for this Mig-15bis are identical with the exception of the forward nose being of two sections in order to smooth it and round it a bit more. Also, the panel lines have unique details as well as the outline for the speed break is correct for the bis version ( they were not the same as the early Mig-15 )
Here are the parts for the nose section. The uncut parts are the nose intake interior walls. and the sections ready for assembly ( minus the nose ) Isaac

Jarek Thank you Work already started on the Mig-15bis model. More information and pictures soon. I also noted that Hobby model issued a Mig-15 ( S-102 ) in Czech marking, really silver overall with Czechoslovakian marking. MiG-15 (S-102) "FAGOT" I am kind of disappointed since there is nothing new here regarding the repaint? I wish they will issue some other non silver Migs ( like the UTI versions ) Anyhow, back to building. Isaac

Nose section
The main improvement that Hobby Model made to this kit is to split the nose intake part into two section to provide a more rounded external shape.
Also, note that the inner lining is added after the outer parts are assembled. This is really a tricky process and requires the parts to match as best you can. I went aft to the part where the cockpit tub will be placed. Isaac

Tim
The real tricky job is putting the nose section, intake spliter, nose gear bay and the cockpit tub all together. I just never thought it was that complicated in these kits, but it is. I'm getting better at it though and will post my method shortly. Thanks Isaac
