Cool The real Mig

Just got back from a trip to Poland. Got to go to many military museums.

Here I am taking pictures of a Lim 2 at the Polish Air Force museum in Deblin.

Fun to see the details of an actual plane vs. the model.

There were many examples of Migs and Suchoi planes there. I have separate thread on that topic, and will add more photos.
In Warsaw Poland

Fun

Those are sweet. Thanks for sharing, Isaac.

I always love to see another MiG or SU.

That Lim-2 is still fitted with 2 23mm cannons? I tough all Lim-2s had armament reduced to just one.

Poland is full of excellent museums, that's true.Lots of good places to go.Krakow Aviation museum was my favorite.

Since you are that close you can skip to Praha,Kbely museum.I'm told it's just as good as one in Krakow.

I was surprised to see two guns on the trainers, but there were many small modifications.

I have been to the Kracow museum 9 years ago and loved it. I will make another trip ( I hope ) to Poland next year and plan to go there as well.

As far as Kbely, I have been there as well. Very impressed with many of the well preserved planes.

All fun stuff.

Cool More Migs

I added another Mig to the marathon build a little while ago in a separate thread.

This time it is a repaint version by Gary of a Mig-17F

Exclamation YG model Mig-15bis

This is my last of the Mig-15 , 17 series models I have. It is the YG model of the Mig-15bis in overall red on top and light blue on bottom. This is an Soviet aerobatic team coloring.

Here is the cover page

and some info on the colors.

The build log will come shortly.

Exclamation YG model Mig-15bis in 1/33

This is my 7th build in this Mig-15 marathon. It is also my last kit in that series, so for now, it will end this effort which started in 2014. Now, I can't say for sure it is the last Mig-15 / 17 I will build, but who knows. I also built the Hobby Model Lim 5 ( last Lim ) which is a Polish production version and well as the old Maly Modelarsz Lim-6 ( really bad representation of a Mig ).

Why this YG version?
What attracted me early on when I purchased the kit, is the bright red color of the Soviet aerobatic team. In addition, this model has an optional engine and internal skins.

The kit
The purchased model is printed on a semi gloss paper A3 size which has a really soft texture to it ( I personally do not like this media and rather get a printed model that is matt finish on a somewhat stiffer paper ). This is also common to some of the other YG models like the Suchoi 7 , 17, 20...

The model instruction are in Russian. For me it made no difference, since I rely on the visuals rather than the words.
There are many parts that are interspersed on the pages and sometimes are not grouped together in anything making sense, so need to pay attention.

Here are some pages including the instructional figures

As an aside, YG also published the same model in metallic finish.

Hello Isaac,

Great to see you carry on running in this MiG-15 marathon!

As I am working on F-86, I will keep my eye on the opponent

Good luck!
