You are doing a very fine job, Isaac.
As usual I enjoy reading your explanations and also your detailed pictures. Looking forward to the rest of this ambitious marathon. Theo |

Vertical fin
vertical fin is an elegant feature with its swept back design.
This version incorporates it into a main fin and a fillet to mate at the aft fuselage. The later version of the Hobby Model Mig-15bis kit has separate rudders ( which I will not use ). here it is: Good fit. Isaac

Wings and flap bays
The flaps of the Mig-15 are simple split version that drop down from an enclosed bay in the lower wing. Since the lower wing skin was already uncolored, I had to cut it out and make that part.
Really, the flaps on the Mig is unremarkable and I will omit them on the next Mig-15bis build. There is some detailed ribbing which is nice. However, the housing has a span wise taper which is not correct and should be constant depth. That was fixed before final assembly to the wing skin. Note. Do not glue the gear bay to the wing as it will not be a good structural support. See that detail a bit later. Isaac

Wing spars and gear bays
I decided to beef up the wing struts and use wood sticks ( used for coffee ) instead of card stock.
This also has the advantage of attaching the main landing gear bay to the wood struts to support the landing gear much better I used the card stock rear spar for shaping the wing. Isaac

Wings on
The wings are prepared.
One wing is glued on Note: I added an additional card piece over the landing gear bay to try to smooth the upper wing skin. Both wings are glued now.
