Smile Scissors and Planes Renard R-31 in 1/100 Scale

Hi Friends!

I finish my first model in 2014, at the time is a Renard R-31 Epervier. A nice and unique subject designed by Scissors and Planes in 1/100 scale. This model is very simple, but effective, I improve the build adding some details.

Renard R31. It's an interesting aircraft, produced in small amount (a little over 30 units) for Aeronautique Militaire in the 1930s. R-31 was used for reconnaissance, training, cooperation with the Army and eventually as provisory fighter. Were on active duty in two recon regiments when the invasion of Belgium by Germany took place in 1940. My model represents the Renard R-31 Epervier No. 33 from 9/V/1Aé based in Bierset in 1940.
Beside a graceful and advanced features for 1930's standarts R-31 have a poor manobrality and dangerous tendence to made a spin, the AeM pilots in this time hate the plane, but R-31 have a distintion to only belgian design to get combat in WWII.

With FIAT CR-42...

Good thing you build them as small as you do..... If I were as productive as you in 1/33 I'd have to move into a bigger house, or rent lots of storage space. Beautiful job!

Aspects of build (Improvements)

I use two printed set to obtain spare parts if necessary.

The first objective is form to correct oval shape of fuselage.

After I made undercarriage...

I introduce a small wire made from orthodontical wire to simulate axis wheels.

After I made the tail, for obtain the chord I glue a reinforcement of 1mm cardboard

The results...

I made the propeller but in my search the balck color is wrong, I made a volumetric reinforcement with 1,5mm cardboard.

I made the weels but I prefer laminated.

I made the wing, She have a reinforcement, I laminated with 1mm cardboard too to obtain a correct wing chord.

You can probably find about 200+ of his planes here: One model per (non-working) day
