OBP Vietnam Caribou Airplane

As you guys probably know I was the one that put up a thread
looking for a Caribou paper model.
Aaron was nice enough to design it and did a great job with it.
Here are my two builds on this aircraft.
I did them for a Veteran that wanted them for the National Caribou Association.
He is a Vietnam Vet that worked with Caribous in the Army.
He was stationed with a unit that was called F-Troop.
They had adopted the Guidon from the F-Troop TV show and put it on the
tail of one of their aircraft.
so,,,
I did the first build for him as the model comes from Aaron.
And on the second one,,, I did a re-paint on it to put the Guidon on the
tail, and changed the number to match the number they had.
I even took one of the pictures he had sent to me of him in
the service and scanned it and printed it out on card stock
to make a figure of him to put with the second model as
a little added surprise.
He loved both models,,,
and plans to take one of them to the convention this year
as a raffle item for the group.
This is just another example of how paper modeling is a great
way to share with folks.
Hope you all enjoy the pictures.
Gary
PS,,, Of course I had lots of help on both builds from my two
helpers ( Callie and Brumby ).
I couldn't have done this project without them.
And YES, Brumby had to pounce on the thing to test
the gear strength. ( WHEW,,, it made it )

Outstanding work, Gary!

As you know, I had a little contact with the Caribous that flew in and out of Vinh Binh airstrip 1966-67, so have been interested in Aaron's design and your build.

Thanks for sharing the story of the vet who flew Caribous.

And I always like to see images of Callie and Brumbie.

Don

Thanks for your comments guys,
Sure was a fun challenge to build them for a guy who knows
this aircraft from tip to tail.
I'm glad he liked them.

Lovely clean build, looks great. Nice to see your helpers! I've nine of them that help me, but often as not, some of them are more interested in working on other projects and demand my attention!
Cheers... Ray

Your build looks awesome! I get to see a Caribou all the time. It is parked outside the Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker.

Very impressive, the bird and the cats, in that order. Well done, musicman.

Hi Ray,
WOW you are a lucky guy having nine helpers.
Bet you can build a six page model in no time at all. ( LOL )
My two are my shop supervisors and are always ready
to help with builds, and testing of my flying models too.
Sometimes the gliders actually make it through
a few flights before being designated to the trash bin.
That's why I build my models with all paper when ever possible.
Kitty friendly is the plan in our home.
Would enjoy seeing some pic's of your helpers if you care to
post them in the ( just for cats thread, in other builds section. )
Best Regards,
Gary
