MB-1 Pod
Some time ago, I asked for the design of the B-58's Pod.
The Pod was both an distinctive characteristic of the airplane and an integral part of his weapon system, and it could be beautiful to add this component at the wondeful Bruno's model. Nobody answered so I decided to design my own. Here some pics. I also added a little detail at the engines, putting inside a toothpick for simulate the cone in the intake. The result is quite good, the rough aspect is mainly gave by my crude fingers. If someone is interested to this add-on i can share it. Best, Nando

Nicely done, Nando.
The Northern Virginia IPMS show takes place this Saturday, and this year their theme is the celebration of the U. S. Air Force's 70th anniversary. A small group of us paper modelers will have a table demonstrating our medium for the third year in a row, so I thought I'd better have a USAF model on hand. I've spent the last 3 nights building Bruno's C-130 Hercules. I've been experimenting with different papers to see what works best in 1:300 scale; this one was Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte. It's a great paper, but a little too thick for this scale (it will probably be great for 1:100 scale models). I felt it was necessary to do a little edge painting with black on the props, and demonstrated yet again that I'm not very good with paint. I don't know how I got the spot on top of the forward fuselage, but there it is. Other than that, and a little trouble rolling the spinners, I think it came out all right considering the paper used. Many thanks once again Bruno, for so generously making these little gems available to all of us. |

Nando, thank you for sharing and I have learnt something new to deal with small scale engines
such as the B-58 and how to detail them like what you did. Anne, really very good result in building the Hercules at 1/300. The black spot on top of the forward fuselage looks like an antenna to me. No problem at all. If you really want to get rid of it, I think a speck of white paint should do the job. Papermate |

Excellent work on that tiny C-130, Anne. Very appropriate for the Fairfax event this weekend. Wish I could be there to see it.

Anne, I didn't realize that was 1:300 until I read your post. Adding some paint to the deicing boots is a nice touch.
Nando, Very nice job on the pod. I would happily add a copy to my stash if you post it here. Last edited by Yeti; 04-28-2017 at 06:21 PM. |

I put the pod's parts into the original B-58's file. Only a hint: put the fins according with the color of that of the pod's area. Enjoy Nando
