Thanks everyone! Vermin_King it will be open cockpit - it even has a seat ....sort of. The OD color and invasion stripes may be next, that sounds like fun.

Could I offer a word of advice?

Make sure to replace the wheel bushings with real ball bearings...

From someone who had trouble with the landing gear once.

Gad, but that dredges up the memories. Mine was made from an orange crate and had 1x12 plank for wings. Not dating myself or anything, but that was circa 1949, so was a Messerschmitt-killer P-51.

Airplane is done!!!! I think.......

Got the plane all drawn up, cut out, and put together! I even tried to do some instructions and took a few shots of the assembly process. I don't have the wagon, I mean landing gear finished yet so the plane is sitting on the old gear, maybe tomorrow I can finish that up. As soon as it is finished I will try to get it in the download section - its kinda goofy but a lot of fun to build and if I remember correctly my first race car was a cardboard box all decorated up, I think I probably won a lot of races in that box...lol.

Forgot to include the test pilot

I left out the photos of the test pilot, he still doesn't look thrilled to be there. All we need now is a long steep hill and a little bit of a head wind, who knows it might fly......maybe

Uploaded to the downloads or something like that

I uploaded the files for the box airplane and wagon so, if I did it right, they should be in the download section in a day or two.
Thanks,
Dan

Terrific model, and a great tribute to one of the best comic strips ever.

If you ever wish to also build watercraft and vehicles, Walt Kelly's classic Pogo Possum strip offers many prototypes.
