Engine cooling intakes.

That's the to be or not to be question.

So, another wing to finish with the Brabazon before installing the u/c.

Just a little technical note on those "intakes". Their primary function was to cool the big radial engines buried in the wing. Each engine was in the wing canted at an angle and coupled to the prop gearbox via a long drive shaft. since there is no engine nacelle, the intakes are really the front of a radial engine cowl ( like a B-17 or a DC-3 ). There are 8 engines total. 2 engines per propeller cluster ( counter rotating ).

There was a plan for a Turboprop powered Brabazon, but it never materialized and the whole project of this huge aircraft was shelved. Most projects that are dictated from above or designed by committees fail.

I just read again a great article in the Fly Past aviation magazine from a few years ago, and it has lots of details on this project.

Nice one.

How about a 1/33 scale version ( you need an extra room for it ).

Thanks

Isaac

Stupid me. As the engines were progressing, I thought this was a jet and was wondering what the long spuds were for! Until I saw the propellers.

Certainly an interesting engine design for this craft.
