Stipa Caproni replica , 1/72 , [Fiddlersgreen]

The Stipa Caproni is an Italian experimental aircrafof the 30s with a very particular aspect because the fuselage is a vacuum tube and the propeller blast inside which increase thrust by the Venturi effect.
Stipa-Caproni - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To remain consistent with my future diorama, I represented the microlight version built in Australia ,reduced to 3/5 scale that really fly with flight characteristics very similar to the original.
Model from Fiddlersgreen reduced to 1/72 (well 3/5 of 1/72). .

Beautiful build of a very odd airplane. While the ducted fan idea is valid, this prototype was actually less efficient than a conventional airplane with the same engine horsepower. Caproni had some very successful designs and some spectacular failures. His 9 wing, eight engine flying boat/hotel was one of the more memorable ones. This airship and it's first flight disaster was was recently depicted in the movie "The Wind Rises", a must see flick.
