Hello nighthawk78 and Theo,
Thanks for the interest and comments, happy that this thread is of interest for you. Regarding the test buils nighthawk78, it is a question for the future, depends on my build and changes that need to be done (if any). Shalom Mor |

This is another excellent model. I am glad to see that you have continued with your study and model construction of the F-80 and its variants.

Thanks mor54, you can definitely count on me for a purchase of the T-33. The fit looks great to me. Nice work.

Hello all,
Thanks Don Boose and MacSongLi for your interest and follow-up. Started to work on the wings, and on the ejection seats (based on the f-80). Regarding you question USA Supersonic, it is based on an old instruction scan (attached) that has the Blue Angels logo, and pictures found in the internet like the two presented. It is realy a very interesting question, hope that one of the experts can clarify it. Hope that I am not starting a war between the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels ! Shalom Mor |

Seeing as the evidence is indeed clear, I'm thinking it was a gift of commemoration bestowed by a Blue Angel that was given a ride or allowed to fly front seat in that particular aircraft or "bird". Perhaps brothers or father and son who were elite performers one with the Navy and one with the Air Force. Perhaps there was a Blue Angels aircraft once upon a time with a similar markings arrangement.

... in Winter Training(maybe), both demo team exchange pilots... so maybe that's why they have Blue angels insignia..... both demo team have the same goal... "recruits"... so there's no rivalries, only the salute is more snappier lol
both demo team fly T-33, forgot the year.... just like they use the F-4

In the Royal Air Force (at least back in the 1980s) there was a custom of "zapping" visiting aircraft with a stick-on logo of the host unit. It looks like this was something similar applied in the spirit as indicated by kacrut and USA Supersonic.

Those photos and markings are on a replica, commemorative aircraft. The original aircraft (there was only one, when the team flew the F-84 and F-100) did not have the BA logo on it. Although the Blue Angels also used one T-33 as well for VIP rides (the same as the T-birds), they did not share markings. There is no known instance where active team aircraft flew with the competitor's logo, even when they did trade flight rides. Pilots WOULD trade uniform patches, but that's about it.
Sorry, didn't mean to put a damper on the party. |
