Looking good, those enchantments make it look like it's actually in a DeHavilland factory.

Hello there, it’s been a busy weekend with little time for paper-yoga unfortunately. Worked on the inside walls of the cockpit and added a few details. Also prepared the head-up display, which is a tiny and fragile part so I stuffed it with 1mm cardboard for reinforcement. Did not install it yet as it will easily break off I guess. Save it for later.
Decided to make the model with the pilot’s entry door open (“becare of airscrews” - although misspelled I can clearly imagine why this warning sign was put up there….), which also leaves the cockpit interior better visible. To have the door handles stand out better I copied the inside parts of the door on 120 gr paper and used them to highlight the details. It’s fun to add these small enhancements at little effort. Next step will be the fuselage and I think it will work out best to firstly construct the sections in which the cockpit will be attached, then to place the inside wall panels of the cockpit and bomb/machine gun bay, and finally to glue the cockpit into position. This should give the best alignment of the parts concerned. Well, at least the strategy is in place now. Hope I can show you any result next time. Erik |

Thanks guys, herewith another update before heading into the weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather overhere at the moment.
Completed several parts of the fuselage and glued the inside cockpit walls and inside bomb bay walls in place. I Used Tamiya cockpit green to touch up where necessary. The color is somewhat darker but this is the closest I could get. Cut out a few details from the cockpit wall next to the pilot and glued them on 0.5mm cardboard to “highlight” them, as you can see in the pictures. The fuselage sections fit very nicely. I made one silly mistake by forgetting one of the joining strips at the left side of the cockpit and had to correct it by gluing it in afterwards. Luckily this section of the cockpit will be hidden by the instrument panel…. Worse thing is I spilled a drop of glue on the model skin that cannot completely be removed anymore. It's a bit smudgy on the left side and I suppose you should consider it as weathering. It may well happen again… Dry fitted the cockpit and it seems to fit in well, except for the four slots in the front former that did not slide properly over the machine gun wells and I had to enlarge the slots considerably. It will be difficult the glue all the edges of the cockpit to the inside fuselage but I don’t think that will really be necessary, just a few strategic spots. Well, that's something for the weekend if the weather is not too distracting. Erik |
