Murph's Models - Douglas B-18 Bolo

This is the latest beta build that I'm doing for Aaron. Started with the nose
canopy, and a little adjustment seems necessary. See pics.
As this was noticed after finishing the nose canopy, I didn't want to
start all over again and decided to trim it to fit the first nose fuselage section.
Result in the Pics 4 and 5 appears to be okay. Best if this glitch is corrected to
avoid frustration when starting a new build.

The ridge in the first pic is by design, I believe, when the nose canopy template
was built into a 3-d shape. Apart from this, the rest of the fuselage should be
no problem.

As expected, building the fuselage was uneventful. Now it stands at 23 cm in length. As I
usually do it at 70% of the original, it is now 1/77, then the original scale should be 1/59.
The original length of this model is about 30 cm (11.8 inches).

The red wing spar front is home made to ensure that the correct dihedral is achieved when fitting
the engines and landing gears. So, in a couple of days from now, the B-18 should be ready
to go.

::sigh:: Another one I gotta have.

I can't quite make out the squadron insignia. What markings are on this one?

Nice work,as always. I enjoy seeing how these test builds uncover small design issues.

This is going to be a nice-looking model.

Thanks, Don. I feel, as a beta builder, I have the duty to point out whatever isn't quite ok
in my opinion. Of course, the designer has the final say whether my observation is right or not.

Is a case of Unfiished paint job, in 1941 the USAAC change the aluminiun finish for OD/NG scheme, exist a P-40's, P-35, C-33 and early B-17 with same situation... Very nice start Papermate...

Looking good, Papermate. I amazes me the speed and accuracy of your test builds. Despite the little jogs, the nose looks good. Aaron also seems to work quickly and accurately as well, really capturing the look and f eel of an aircraft.
