Exclamation Fuselage framing

The fuselage is framed in two different sections. The aft has a long boat like center keel, and the forward is a long box like construction. Nothing complicated, but as I said, try to keep the whole thing straight.

Pics of aft section framing:

Exclamation Wing framing

The wing frame is extensive and solid. However, the center spar is too weak and will be replace later on with a plywood piece. For now here is the framing:

Hi Isaac, your comment and observations make this aircraft build even more keen to follow, even from my temporary residence in Singapore. Four weeks without paper modelling.... how to survive???? Looking forward to seeing things to follow.

Regards,
Erik

Fine narrative and image set. Very helpful for anyone else who wants to build the model and a pleasure for someone like me, who does very little building and has to get my model building experience through watching the work of other, mroe skilled, modelers.

I'm discovering more errors in the kit. Both wrong marking of left and right parts as well as fit and length issues. Those will be identified as I work thru the parts.

The main message is that this is a very interesting model and unusual design of inter wars aircraft. However, the kit designers , printers, publishers did not pay attention to obvious errors and at this point the kit is so full of extra parts and not all are corrected, that I would not recommend it for a novice builder. I'm struggling to make sense of it and the pace of assembly is about 3 times that of normal building time.

However, on we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Compartments and tubs

There are 4 compartments on this aircraft.

The nose position for the gunner / observer, then the pilot and in the upper aft section is the rear gunner. The 4th position is the lower "turret" gunner position.

Here are the upper compartments / tubs.

Tupolev R-6 Modelik 1/33 scale-dscf1967.jpg

Please note that the nose compartment has a gap in front. It would be obvious later on that the parts should match and the floor must be trimmed in order for the external nose skin to fit over it.

For now, the compartments are only dry fitted.

The lower position will be shown a bit later.

It feels different building these prop planes. Most folks build either WW1 or WW2 prop planes. I thought it would be interesting to build something in between.

I see that you started the Jake, that's great! keeps you busy I am sure. Keep it going. You have a fan club following you on this forum.

Take care.
