Short answer: your guess is as good as mine! Bit of info about this particular Wirraway- the Wirraway was by no means a combat aircraft. In Dec 1942 Pilot Officer J.S. Archer with crewman Sgt. J.L. Coulston were in A20-103 on a recon flight near Buna when they spotted what was reported at the time a Japanese Zero 1,000 ft below. Archer dived on it and with guns blazing managed to shoot it down. It was the only air to air victory by a Wirraway. Archer was awarded a Silver Star for combat valour by none other than Gen Douglas Macarthur and six bottles of beer by the Australian High Command with Sgt. Coulston being mentioned in despatches. Post war investigations revealed the fighter Archer shot down was actually a Nakajima Ki-43 'Oscar'.

Excellent Wirraway, Brent. Keep doing AU and NZ planes from the Pacific and I'll be incredibly happy.

Very clean build and an interesting history. Nice job! The nose art is bizarre. Perhaps an inside joke appreciated only by the crew. Here's a link https://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircra...y/A20-103.html with a little more info on the plane and its story, but unfortunately nothing new on the nose art.

Thanks everyone. The Me 410 was one of the first models I bought from Bruno. I have just completed a repaint and test build. I don't like the colours I choose and have already changed them to look more like the FW190. Now that I know how things go together I have added the stenciling and other small details to the kit.

Top job again Brent and a welcome addition for Luftwaffe fans. Probably a wise choice on the colour change- pretty sure this version of the 410 was (as you say like the Fw.190) 74/75/76.
