Well-executed pairing, showing the dramatic difference in size... and color schemes!

I'm not much into jets but that mig-19 got me thinking of making mig 17,19 and 21 in Vietnamese colors.

Related question - we have all seen color plates of Vietnamese jets in alu/ grey finish but green camo if usually seen in mig-17 and sometimes 19. I've seen very few Mig-21 in camo, other than green paint splotches on alu finish much like Japanese camo. Was there any rhythm or rhyme to it or did planes got camouflage as they got rotated to forward bases?

Great work on those Vietnam war planes! As a player of the board wargame “Phantom Leader,” I have considered building some of the planes that show up in the game. These would be perfect.

Thanks Guys!

George, I have played quite a few board wargames but never Phantom Leader. I used to play AH B-17 Queen of the Skies.
This Shenyang F-6 was delivered in Chinese Camo and operated in this scheme. The other planes got painted as needed for missions. I have repainted a Mig-21 that was painted dark green for night intercept missions but was also used during the day (some reports of black Mig-21s were these planes). Some Mig-17s had the green camo when they would stay low and be hard to see by the higher American planes.

I would love to see a Viet MiG-21 available in other than bare metal as well.

Brent very nice MiG-19, is one of my favorite planes. I build in the past a bunch of MiG-19 from Murph's Models. Great performance!

Modelling should be therapy for an addiction, not an addiction itself. Poor Texman.......

It's an interplay of once more addictive behavior then more therapy
