the old Halinski Wildcat
Working slowly on the Halinski wildcat, I like the plane alot and the early WWII colors and markings. This kit is reminiscent of the early H P-38 in design and instructions, although I'm building it a bit altered, am using similar methods as later models using single formers in fuse, none in nose to make room for a regular radial, left a few parts off the engine as am going to glue on the cowl. (in the front row left off the valve cover tops concerned about fit, turns out to have plenty of room for the radial from the Orlik P-47) Tim Crowe's recent build is helpful, as instrtions for Halinski don't look like what we're used to (stared when the P-39 came out?). The design of the gear supports is nice and one does need to use the double formers to build the fore and aft center cockpit. Hoping to be able to find time to keep going ...

She's looking great. Love the engine.
It's a good kit with plenty of scope for extra work. Tim |

Very nice detailed work, the Wildcat and Herron are both beautiful.

Thanks Gary is fun to do. Control surfaces will be some extra work, but I really like radial engines...

Looks terrific, Glen. I am glad to see another 1/33 WWII fighter joining your stable.

Nice detailing on the engine.
Looks like a water landing in that last photo.

Thanks Don, Chris and Doug Nice to hear from you each. We only have GBH s around here, but within an hours drive BC Night Herons live, too. The interesting thing to me is although the GBH is a good sized bird it seems dwarfed by the marsh grass this time of year. (You can hear an occasional Bittern in the spring, but to see one is another thing entirely...)
This kit is not bad but I think is a hand designed, computer "refined" kit, but work was definitely put into it as the fit is fine. The gear are easier to make than they look, but look cool. Thanks for the replies.
