Home built and designed fighters
Saegheh (Thunder)- based on the F-18 http://media.farsnews.com/Media/8506...50615_L600.jpg Azarakhsh (Lightening) - based on the F-5 http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...akhsh-pic1.jpg Both together http://www.mehrnews.com/mehr_media/i...20381_orig.jpg I guess they have been pretty busy. Well it's either that or Nukes.
Interesting designs though. If it was 1980 but they are behind in a big way. I wonder what powerplant and guidance systems are in them. |

According to Wikipedia:
Unlicensed versions of the Northrop F5 Azarakhsh F-5E built in Iran with unknown modifications. Sa'eqeh F-5E modified in Iran with canted, twin vertical stabilizers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_F-5 Funny that a two seater plane seems "sexier" that the single seater! |
