Mi-6 Hook Beta build

My latest design is ready for it's beta build. If all goes well it should be available for sale in a week or two from ecardmodels.com. So without further ado... here it is, the build report!

This kit is a 1/48 scale Mil Helicopter MI-6 Hook that was developed in Sketchup, Pepakura and Photoshop. The kit has 17 pages of parts. Completed it should be around 24 inches long!

The MI-6 Hook was first flown in 1957, and at the time was the largest rotory wing aircraft in the world. Over 800 of these monsters were built from 1957 - 1981.

I have chosen for the paint job this bird

Here is a pic of some of the printed pages.

Ok here are some parts...
first off, the starboard main gear and primary strut

And then, to give you a better idea of the size of this monster, the forward end

I barely stumble through myself. It took me about 6 months to draw the mesh. Pepa and photoshop I might do tutorials for.

Hey John I have found quite a few posts on using Sketchup over at rcgroups.com. This thread in particular might interest you.

here are the Main Gear, with the main strut attached and the spreader struts sitting next to them. The spreaders will be attached to the main fuse first, and then to the gear strut

You're starting to get me hooked on helos again! The Hook is a great one. BTW, I'm almost finished on the Long Ranger repaint. I'm starting another test build today.

Might have to enlarge this to 1:33 just because it's so huge to start with!

I was originally going to do it in 1/33, but there were some pieces that wouldn't fit on the page. I know not everybody has a printer that will handle 11 x 17 paper, so i decided to do it at 1/48.

More pics will posted later today, including intakes, exhaust and the center fuse...

When you release it, please use at least a 300 dpi resolution for the images so we can enlarge to 1:33 with minimal loss of image quality.
