1/144 DGA Luftwaffe J-3 Cub
This past weekend, with no special plans, I challenged myself to
start/finish a kit as quick as possible. No special additions, mods etc. Just print and build. And, wanting something just a little different, I chose this captured J-3 from DGA (Design Group Alpha). It is a repaint by Guido Van Roy. During the early part of WWII, Germany captured several Danish built Piper Cubs, and pressed them into service for various jobs. The original kit is 1/48, so I reduced it to 1/144. This gives a wingspan of 2.9 inches/7.37 cm. Total time was about six hours, spread across two days. It was fun to finish a kit in one weekend! I challenge everyone to try it, just for fun! Thank you for stopping in!

That's a sinister yet cute Cub! Nice job, Ray. I think I need to try your scale just to see if my fingers are up to it.

The time sounds about right. I printed out the old Zio Prudenzi Ju 87 Stuka in 1/144th
shrunk from the original 1/72. It took me a little over 6 hours; I had trouble with the tiny flower petals of the bomb. |

Another beautiful build at such a small scale, Ray. Well done.

Nice one Ray, one is certainly not used to seeing a Piper Cub in those markings!

A 'weekend build' is a nice challenge to set occasionally, especially when there is unfriendly weather. And captured aircraft make an interesting change from the expected colours. Applause for rescaling the kit down several steps of the common aviation scales.
