No problemo!!! Being weird is what makes it so interesting... It's not a subject I can ever see appearing as a plastic kit. It must be something about us card modelers that means we build some really weird stuff. It's a bit like the X-Planes interesting because it's different.

This is why I've chosen to build the tailsitters!

One more reason is the rather small number of parts and a pretty fast build :D

Cheers, Old Rutz

How are you finding the quality of this?
Like fit, colours, etc.

And extending that... would it be worth it to order one of those CDs with a year of ancient Maly Modelarz?

Are there official versions of those CD's? My understanding was that all of them I've seen were pirated.

Yes... there are official versions that were released by Maly themselves. They were divided into years for example 1965-1967 and 1968-1971. Personally I thought they were a bit on the expensive side as there were ever only two or three models that interested me on each one.

Not sure if they're still available or not. In any case, the early Maly Modelarz kits are not actually covered by copyright, and have fallen into the public domain. So the ones you are describing as pirated, in fact may well not be pirate material at all, but freely distributable.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Ah - the only compilations I've seen were on ebay and included recent models.

careful with this statement, we have determined these early models are still covered by copyright, the old public domain bit, after the iron curtain came done in 1997 is old.

and not true.

until we hear from the MM publishers that those models are actually public domain we will honor all copyrights, perceived or not.

Rick

I understand and agree with the desire to protect Copyrights Rick.... But it actually is true. The Copright Acts created during and after the fall of the Iron Curtain, can not be retrospectively applied to earlier works. That is actually clearly stated in the acts themselves.

That would be like saying, OK I'm going to release a Charlie Chaplin or a Laurel And Hardy movie on DVD and because I realeased it I'm now claiming the copyright to it. You can't actually do that. Even the original makers or current owners of the original companies that made those movies, can't do that.

It works the same way with all copyright material. Once released publicly without proper copyright notice or designers rights notice in place and without any law (at the time they were released) to protect them, they are already Public Domain.

There's not much point in waiting for Maly to comment on it, because they won't for obvious reasons, do that. They'd have to make an admission that the material was not in their control, if they did comment, and they're not likely to do that are they.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)
