P-51 Mustang Happy Jack's Goes Buggy
As a birthday present, Dave Winfield graciously fell to my tantrum and designed the P-51 Mustang D "Happy Jack's Goes Buggy". I wanted this particular airplane to give it as a gift to the owner of the actual P-51 here in San Antonio, Dr. Bruce Winter MD.
I've seen the airplane , and meet Dr Winter several times, including on the quarterly Fighter Aces Association luncheon (below photo). Really a jolly guy, and very open. So I guess the natural way of things led me to ask Dave for this model. Now a beta model, soon to be released in eCardModels shop. |

Cool model! Can't wait to see it built! You should print that pic with the real one and glue the printed you to the same spot on the model. Given your past models, we may not be able to tell the difference between the two!

Kinda Billy here, uh? I hope to do that!
I've done it with the P-47 Tarheel Hal, so I hope we can do the same. |

Interesting paint scheme on this plane.
A little tricky in spots (to recreate in paper). I have already warned Gerardo that there could be complications. His build will also serve as a test (beta build, as he puts it). So please forgive us if we have to tweak anything on this model.

Very nice looking Mustang Gerardo. Good luck with the build, I'll be following the thread.
Nice art work Dave, very impressive. Gary

Thank you, Gary, for the kind words.
So here we go with the Mustang... I begin with the cockpit. Very standard. Then the nose parts. Very careful to put the art work together. After that, we can go for the aft fuselage. All goes clean. Both parts of the fuselage are glued together. The cockpit was inserted via the under-belly, and glued in its place. Nose was also built. |

Thank you!
Now to the wings... First the internal structures. Carefully cut the triangles used to align the structure. Then add the wheel wells part. |
