My observation
Erik
From the picture of the models you attached just before, it appears that the landing gear is in its most stretched position or is too tall. maybe its the picture, but you can check when you get there with your build. Also, I hope you do a better job on the wheel pants and strut covers. Isaac

The Finnish version has streamlined skies and can be built as #3 with fighter and a bomber victory strikes and a cartoon unit marking, or Ace of Hearts #1. Neither has the SVA unit marking of the Russian soldier running away and dropping his gun.
I'm looking foward to this thread because the model is above my current skill level, but I want it on my shelf. |

Hello everyone,
Thanks for your reactions. Time for a short update. While typing this I'm enjoying Boston - More Than A Feeling and Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac on my headphones, it can't get any better. Continued with the inside lining and added some cockpit details. Regarding the lining and inside structure, the instruction drawings are not very clear I find and from the first version I made I remember the inside lining did not entirely fit with the outside "sheeting" (sounds metallic but it's just paper... of course....) but on the other hand once the cockpit's finished you won't see much of this and by applying light grey paint (not entirely matching the cockpit colours but it was the closest I could find) mismatches can be easily hidden. Control yoke, rudder pedals and some other controls added and finally the lining and inside structure. This required cutting very carefully and I applied glue all around to stiffen it up and then painted the edges light grey. So far so good and no real problems. For the knobs on the controls I applied small drops of glue to make them look more like knobs. Before cutting any part I sprayed the model sheets with varnish, thanks to the experiences of some of you. It protects the print, makes delicate parts a bit stronger and up so far no problems with glue. I was afraid it wouldn't hold on the varnished parts but that didn't happen. The pilot's seat will be installed later. Regards, Erik |

'Go your own way' reminds me of the time I was building the 'Zwarte zee' tug from Smit.
It was a wooden model, unfortunately unrepairably damaged when I moved to the caribbean ... It brings fond memories of younger times |
