The catch here being , Hughes Aircraft, not Howard Hughes was the creator.
Hughes Aircraft in some form or another still exists. for Corporate Authorship it is now 125 years. |

RE: Copyright for B 17, P 51 etc.
As far as I know, government funded aircraft have no copyright issues, but the private ventures or civilian owned ones have. So, B-2 or F-117 can be done, the Spruce Goose however is protected.
