much closer to TEN feet actually.

1 Metre = 39.5 inches

3 Metres = 118.5"

LOL thats ridiculous for a paper model.
So, when you building it?

Yes it is. It would only be legal if he never published it. giving away still counts as publishing. I too have a "spruce goose" model I can't release.

Doesn't copyright expire 70 years after the death of the creator? So does that make the Spruce Goose copyright-free?

The catch here being , Hughes Aircraft, not Howard Hughes was the creator.
Hughes Aircraft in some form or another still exists.
for Corporate Authorship it is now 125 years.

In that case what about models of Boeing B-17 or P-51, or anything we build?

Are these in violation of copyright laws?

Not sure where it all ends.

I know that as plastic models became a profit maker, the big companies started charging the model makers a fee.

RE: Copyright for B 17, P 51 etc.

As far as I know, government funded aircraft have no copyright issues, but the private ventures or civilian owned ones have. So, B-2 or F-117 can be done, the Spruce Goose however is protected.
