1/48 J-10 Build
ok so this is an amazing model in our own free download section of the Chengdu J-10, the Chinese rival to the F-16 Fighting Falcon, or "Viper," that has a very distinct shape, featuring canards and delta wings as well as these little thingies on the back behind the wings (and yes that is the technical term, trust me i'm a professional). As some of you may know, I'm not that skilled of a builder and this is a complex model so if this ends up looking like a glue-soaked remnant of what may have been, or hoped to have been, in a past life a J-10 then please forget about this thread. Here goes nothing.
I will touch up the cockpit (edges and to the best of my ability. Any criticism on my build is appreciated, and tips even more so.

Don't worry about your building skills. The only way to get better is to practice. Lex's J-10 is a nice little model. It's been slowly working its way up my build pile for a while now. And, if it does turn out to be rubbish, just say that you were going for a crashed version. That's what I do!

Hi Paperengineer. I made the fuselage of this jet. I didn't do the cockpit like you are doing( which looks very tidy by the way)or the landing gear option. I found the fit of parts very precise. The formers were very tight from memory. I think I sanded them down a little. I worked from the nose back to the centre, then the rear forward to the centre, shaping the skins into tubes and gluing the sections together, then sliding the formers in.
The inlet was a bit difficult as the duct goes through a former at a tricky angle. I couldn't get it through cleanly and was messing up the parts that surround the inlet with all the handling. I eventually cut the duct in two parts. I glued the rear part behind the former and the front part to the inlet. It then went together easily. It looks fine through the inlet. The fuselage looks really nice with a very interesting shape when done. That is as far as I got because I decided I would start again and do a better job. As usual I got distracted and never got back to it. I look forward to following your build. Robert |

The pilot's office looks great! You did a much better job than I did. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! My glue tends to purple the blueish fuselage if it even touches it so don't expect that part to be up to par with the inside of the cockpit.
