Seafire Mk.47, 1/48, Gary Pilsworth

After long time, I tried to make this beauty with the coaxial propeller. Don`t look so much on the retouch. I used the permanent markers, but than I find the colour which is close to the original, because i`m able recognize only 16 types of the colours

Well done on this model. It is a Seafire F.R.47 of No. 800 Naval Air Squadron (NAS), No. 13 Carrier Air Group [CAG], which flew from HMS Triumph (R16, Tail Code “P”) in the early months of the Korean War (July – October 1950). These aircraft participated in the first air strike against North Korea on 3 July 1950.

It is possible to build a complete suite of aircraft of 13 CAG. Nobi of Thai Papermodels has designed a 1/48 Firefly I that John Bowden of DGA has recolored as an aircraft of 827 Naval Air Squadron (12 Firefly FR/NF Mk Is) and JIm and Marg Fainges of Lad 'n Dad offer through ECardmodels a 1/48 model of the Air-Sea Rescue aircraft carried aboard Triumph: Supermarine Sea Otter JM960 (“Neptune’s Daughter”).

Wow, how about that...I had no idea that Britain had carrier based aircraft participating in the Korean War.

It's nice to have a professional military historian on board!

Seafire Mk.47 is finished. please excuse my colour retouch. She looks now as after dogfight with some scratches and patches after maintenance
