Where do you model?

I had to move my hobby to the office due to the newest member of the family, an 11 month old "Tasmanian Devil" daughter of mine keeps crushing my models. Anyway I tough of showing off how I display my models at work! For those of you who do the same how do you display your models?

P.S. Since I work for an aviation/aerospace company my models generates a lot of interest. Aside from a few models that I keep for myself I give most of them away and as a result my "model request list" keeps growing. I only model during lunch so it takes me a couple of weeks to finish a single model.

it must be hard to find a place to sit and eat! I know I would hate to disturb a piece that I left to dry.

Where Do You Model?

Hi Falco,

It's an interesting question that you bring up. I use a part of our big kitchen (and dining) table but only during off-hours (evenings or late at night).

My study/ work room is already full of cameras and related admin. stuff. When I am in the middle of some model project, I move the whole cutting mat, scalpels and tools, in mugs or beer glasses, into the dining room table, where we usually only sit on parties, birthdays and big holidays. Thus, I can work on a model now and then for a month or more.

I used to have a special work table for card modeling, which is ideal, but we got too crowded as I had to move my professional photo studio home,
a couple of years ago.

See my setup! It's compact (I haul only what I need and nothing more) and most importantly it's portable... for glue I use Aleene's Turbo Tacky Glue Pen (best glue I ever used!!!).

Nice display, Falco. Where did the Cozy model come from? Is it paper?

Sakrison, I'm not sure which model you are referring too but all the planes you see in that picture are made of paper and nothing more... They are all Murph's Models.

Wonderful thread! I always love to see other model builders' work spaces.

I do most of my building at my home office desk. Image 1 shows the configuration for the writing/teaching mode. Image 2 is the paper modeling mode. Images 3 and 4 are two views of the basement workshop. Image 5 is my office at the U.S. Army War College (I haven't built any models there, but it is the place from which I often participate in the forum and do research for model projects).
