F-15a - building report

after finishing the prototype last week, today i started to build the real thing.

i started with the engines because in this model they have another use of formers to the end of the tail......and it is better to prepare them in advance.

but first let's see how much place the formers and the profiles take....not only because the amount, it is also because they are very large relatively to the other models.
in the pictures there are 2 kind of cardboard, the bright is thick one about 1.5 mm and the darker is the thin one.......in the instructions i will write when to use each one of them.

some pictures of the engines building process.

good night/morning

Very attractive. And, because they have not flown with the exhaust "turkey feathers" in many years, there is alot of room for detailing!

The frame of the main fuselage

in others F-15 paper models the main body is very complicated and there are a lot of parts of the main body and many of formers along the body.

i wanted to do the main body simply as i can, so the main fuselage of my F-15 have only 5 parts and to support such a big parts i had to create a special frame i called "THE CAGE" and soon you will know why.

when i built the white prototype i couldn't succeeded to make the main fuselage balanced at his longitudinal axis because the big wide parts of his main body.
only when i used the cage frame i got a very good result.

so there are the parts of "the cage"
big formers, Main chassis and side supporters.

frames with the main chassis but without the supporters yet.

side supporters assembled

in these pictures you can see i managed to create a flat back above the formers.
the levels between the formers in both sides side left and right are still the same and very horizontal and even the long depression along the bottum is straight.

As on the Phantom, Kfir and Mirage, your work on the engines nozzles is amazing.

I found this picture, I think they are speaking about the nozzle on the left of the picture but I'm not sure
The turkey feathers are maybe the metal parts covering the nozzle as on the right.
Regards,
Ronan.
