Fiddler's Green Mig 15

Well, after some time the building bug has bit me agian. I felt like building something simple so I decided on FG's Mig 15. Now the original is pretty old and cartoony but there is also a wonderful repaint in the Mig 15 folder that looks really nice. Whoever did it also re-drew all the panel lines, so all in all its like a new model. I did want to change the texture for the canopy as I was not crazy about what was used so I photohsopped in a more sky-blue-with-clouds texture. I also photoshopped out the guns as I wanted to add those in using toothpicks.

I then printed it out and was rather dissapointed with the results- due to a combination of an old printer and heavy cardstock, about half of the detailing ended up fading away. You can see in the first picture that there is alot of nice detail, but on my printed copy it just gets lost. Oh well I still plan to build it. Last night I got the parts all cut out (there are around 15 or so) and tonight I hope to get a couple hours to myself to colour in the edges and glue it up.

Good luck. I did the old MIG 15 (the one you call cartoony, LOL) some years ago, and rather liked it. I did the large size 'cuz my fat fingers have a hard time with regular sized models. Hope to see pictures when you're finished.

Avro,

I did the re-paint in Gimp. If you pm me your e-mail address, I'll send you the files.

Thanks,
Gary

Here is the model after very quickly throwing glue at it. From some angles its pretty good. From others, not-so-much. But I don't mind since I plan to build another. The Next one will be the keeper!

Thanks Gary. And thanks for the file. I opened it up in Photoshop and it read it as 100 DPI, which may have been why so much detail was lost when I printed it out. I bumped it up to 300 and have started in on a repaint. Here's hoping the added DPI will bring out all your detailing.

That was my first attempt at a repaint. I look forward to seeing your results.
