Horten Ho XIIIb in 1/48 scale
This is now my 5th hotel build while I am in Montreal Canada on a short ( a few months ) assignment.
My build selection is:
For that, I stumbled upon the many 1/48 scale free models on this site, E card and Eric son models. So far I built: Me P.1106R Eric Son 1/48- my travel build Arado 381 1/48 scale X Crafts Spitfire Mk 2 Model Art 48 scale Zeppelin Rammer- another hotel build For this build I downloaded from E Cards this Thai Paperworks kit. Like the others, it is in 1/48 scale and fits the requirements. A little on this plane. It is another of the Luft 46 concept planes based on the Horten brotheers flying wings. This one was going to be a supersonic fighter plane. It is similar to the other Horten and Lippisch designs in which you have a delta winged plane and the cockpit is integrated into a massive vertical tail. http://www.luft46.com/horten/ho13b.html Looks like fun Isaac

The parts
here are the parts.
primarily it is a flying wing , so that is where the majority of the pieces are at. Simple sketches to show where the parts go. However, the directions are left basically to the builder. But there is not much to it. Isaac

Wing first
Cut the parts.
I don't understand why the wing was chopped up span wise. Other than the tips, the wing surface is smooth and continuous and would all fit on one page. Oh well, more to cut and fit. And the frame. That is an extremely important part of the build. I ended up making additional reinforcements. Isaac

Wing assembly
The wing split line along the span. Why oh why ? Could have been a complete wing instead of two parts.
Right wing ( minus the tips ) Both wings frame being fit Glued frame and wood sticks for joining the two wing halves. Both wings are joined The cutout on the bottom is for placement of the jet engine later on. Also, add some nose weight to make sure it is not a tail seater Isaac

Looking good. You're more prolific in a hotel than I am in my home (plus I'm retired)!

Just for fun
Quote:
Don Every so often I go on a building binge. This is one of them. However, the models I select for hotel builds are so simple and fast that some are done in two evenings. At home, I build the more complicated ones in 1/33 scale with all the interior and external stuff and that takes me about a month or two to complete one model. As for retirement, I am sure that there may be other diversions that will keep you busy and there is no rush needed. Enjoy Isaac

CG check
As I said earlier, it appears that the ground stance may be at risk of being a tail seater. To check this, I have placed tooth picks in the correct locations ( I made sure to place extra card stock inside to attach the struts to.
I did add a bit of weight. Isaac

A view from the bottom and tips on
Here is where the engine pod goes. You can see the internal structure. Also, it is still accessible to add weight later on if you need to balance it.
And the wing tips are on now Isaac
