Shalom Yoav,

I've been following your design/build threads with much interest. I think your design and modeling techniques are top-notch and your subjects are certainly interesting (to me, anyway).

I have a couple of questions about the color of the Magen Davids (six-pointed stars) on IAF aircraft.

* Does the IAF use Tekhelet (dark purplish blue) for these or just a dark blue?

* What do you use? If it is a special color like Tekhelet, where do you 'find' it?

* Have you noticed what color these fade to over time?

Thanks for your thoughts and keep the build threads coming.

hello Mike. nice to meet you and thanks for the kind words, i am very appreciate it.

first, the colors and the schemes i use for my model based on the International FS colors to give my models realistic and to give them unity.

about the color for the magen david....
in the real birds sometimes i see dark blue and somtimes bright one, i don't have any FS for the Magen david blue, so i use good pictures and my experience and my eyes for the Magen david blue and use the same blue for all my IAF model, unless i know that there is a special blue used on a specific aircraft.

the dark blue color of the Magen david is faded more slowly then the camuflage colors because dark colors are faded more slowly then a bright colors, but i always made dirt and weathering on the Magen davids so they fit to the rest colors on the model.

i hope i answerd your questions.

looks at this picture, the F-15 is very dirt and weathring but still the blue of the magen david is dark like it is new...also this F-15 have a new nose.

also this picture you can see the dark blue on the magen david and the bird is very old and faded.

take care

YOAV

Nice start to a classic French fighter.

I liked all the paint schemes and the bare metal ones with the big lightning arrow across the fuselage.

Going to follow this thread with lots of interest. (even if the level of detail is out of my comfort zone )
I'm sure you will not disappoint us. Discourage us, possibly... by the marvels you create. Disappoint us, never!
