Texman...like Mike said, shoot from a bit further away and crop to 800x600. Also, don't use the "Auto" setting on your camera. If possible, set the ISO to 100 (or lower) and shoot with Aperture or Shutter priority. Place a bright lamp outside of the view of camera. To help remove harsh shadows, crumple up some waxpaper and hang it between the light source and the subject. Crumpled waxpaper also works good when placed over a flash.

But the most important thing from above is setting the ISO to 100 (or lower). It looks as if your photos have been shot at 800, which brings in a lot of grain in the image. The lower you can set ISO, the less noise there will be in the image.

i usually shoot pictures at 1600x1200, and in my copy of photoshop elements, I resize the image size, down to 800x600, and then save it.

Thanks again all. Ash, your partially right, I shot at 400. Will give all of these suggestions a try. Gotta do better at this.

Thumbs up

Ray,

The P-40 came out great! I've tried to build the ModelArt P-40 in the standard 1:72 scale and that was tough enough. 1:144 must really take some skill and patience.

Also, I agree with Ashrunner, the grainy pictures are most likely due to the high ISO you used. Try turning it down to 100 and see how it works. You may need more light though.

Roger

That's a great build, it is very crisp and neat at that size.
i have tried spraying the paper before even starting the cutting and build. doing it that way also helps remove the glue overflow and leaves the edges clear for gluing when you cut them.

Sweet build...I always thought everything was bigger in Texas. You've proved me wrong.
