BV 212.03 in 1/48 scale
My Luft 46 fleet in 1/48 scale will have a new member. This is also my next project build while in the hotel in Montreal.
Luft 46 collection- Hotel build This is another one of those interesting tail less type of designs that I like. I found this kit here: BV-212 with kettenkraftrad 1:35 paperhobby: BV-212 with kettenkraftrad 1:35 There are many more models on this site as well as a few Luft 46 interesting projects. However, it is in 1/35 scale which is an armor scale, so for this project it is scaled down to 1/48 to match the rest of the fleet here. A little on the aircraft Blohm & Voss P 212 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The kit This is a super simple kit to build. It also has a simple rendering ( all grey / metal type ) with yellow nose and fuselage band. In addition there is a cockpit and landing gear bays as well as a simple exhaust and engine intake opening. It all got shrunk to 1/48 scale. Isaac

The parts
I am building this as a simple kit. Therefore all interior is deleted. Also I will not build the tow vehicle in this scale.
The parts prior to attaching the glue tabs Notes: I found that simple models will appear much better if there is a colorful comuflage to them. This one is so plain, that every mistake or fit issue I'll have will be accented Also, no frames or spars are provided, so I will have to make my own especially since no interior will be added and the kit will need some structure. That is not a big issue here. Isaac

Fuselage
Assembly of the nose. The nose gear bay is omitted. Buy the space for it needs to be preserved or the sections will not mate. For the intake, I made a small cylinder and fit on the inside.
Major sections. I used a circular cutter to make random frames which helped stiffen it up and provide a shape. The actual design may not have been circular sections, but its OK for what I need. And attached. Isaac

Wings
As usual, I have used a wood piece as a wing spar.
The wing is then slipped on and I add additional pieces of flat wood to thicken the wings. Isaac

Wing tips
There are end plates on the wing and also the vertical fins as well as the outer wing panels
For the vertical fins, I inserted wood pieces to the wing ends for support. Isaac

A minor screw up
The wing outer panels are located differently than what the illustration shows.
Unfortunately I did not pay attention to my reference and I attached it incorrectly too far aft . The yellow tips will be cut and placed correctly later on. Isaac

canopy
Since no interior cockpit is built, I had to make the canopy solid. The kit had writing in the glazing, so I made new pieces.
Only observation is that it is too large and does not look to scale Isaac

Corrected tips
I cut the yellow wing tips and relocated them forward in the corrected location.
I am glad it was easy. Isaac

Gear doors
The doors are on.
Please note that their shapes is different than the kit cut out which is wrong. The narrow part is to the back where the struts are located. Isaac
