Spirit of St Louis
From Schreiber-Bögen
I read a comment about this kit saying it was rubbish and that the pieces did not fit. Only the fuselage reinforcements are wrong. I did them again and everything fit perfectly regards |

Very nice! My first post on Paper Modelers was the same kit. Looking back at my comments, I noted that the parts fit well too. The one I made was bought in the late eighties or early nineties, and had the metal part around the engine printed in silver.

Thanks for the visit and comment, modeller and Robert Woolley.
The photos are not very good and I apologize, I do not remember when I bought, but my kit has not metalized the part of the fuselage where the name of the airplane goes Regards |

interesting, not sure about the accuracy of the kit though. You seem to have a forward facing window there.

It is true what you say.
The original airplane has no forward window, but the kit places a piece to fit the wings with the fuselage. But it's not a window, it's blind, maybe a designer slip. I realized it too late Thanks for your comment |

This kit is not "rubbish"!! The kit is accurate, and that piece glued on top of the fuselage does not represent any windows. This Schreiber model is simple but it provides a nice rendition of this famous plane. One issue: You glued the propeller blades wrong. With an inverted pitch angle. All American aircraft use propellers turning to the counterclockwise as seen from front. There is a much more detailed model of the Spirit, I think it is by WAK or a similar Polish brand but consequently much more difficult to make.

The piece on top of the fuselage does not appear on the real thing, ergo, the model is not accurate.

A nice build. The kit is simple but attractive.
The curved shape of the nose is always difficult to replicate in paper. you made it well Quote:
If you mean the "x" shaped piece on top of the kit, it is a simplified rendition of the original wind wheel compass of the plane. Top windows are also correct.
