Smile Landing gear

The gear struts are made of wood tooth pics with paper wrapped around and paper clips for the wheel axles. I drilled into the card base and then used super glue to attach in place. Nice and strong.

The nose gear bay is added at this point. I also added additional internal support to attach the node gear strut .

The wheels are made of card stock. I used a circle cutter to make the disks that are sandwich glued

Then I used a Dremel tool to sand them to shape.

Looks very good! I think I also had issues with the wings when I was working on one Eric's earlier designs; it is currently in my 'attempt again' pile... though I suspect my issues where self induced! ;^)

Hehehe...
Those tabs were the first "don't do" lesson I learned in my quest to do model design.
I was trying to find an easier solution/alternatives to making formers. The accordion ribs on the Lippisch was another attempt.
In the end, I bit the bullet and went back to the traditional formers.
