Me P. 1110 Ente- Eric Son model in 1/48 scale
Since I am on a roll building 1/48 scale Luft 46 models,
Luft 46 collection- Hotel build Eric sent to me one of his original first designs from 2008 to build. The kit was released back then and not sure if anyone other than Eric built it. This version of the P. 1110 ( there were at least 3 distinct looking versions ) is an interesting design that incorporates two interesting features. The obvious is the large canards ( or more likely tandem wings ), and the second less obvious are the semi conformal engine side intakes which were incorporated later on on the SAAB Lansen fighter and also the Lockheed P80. A little info here of views and pics from the internet... Thanks Eric for sharing. Isaac

The parts
The entire kit comes on two pages and no instructions.
Eric sent screen shots of his design work with were helpful specifically around the center section ( 6 ) with the engine intakes. The rest of the design is straight forward and uncomplicated. I just added internal structure such as round formers, extrac card inside for the landing gear and wood spars for the wings. Isaac

Center section part 6
I started with the most difficult part of the fuselage. This one includes the engine inlets and main gear wells. It consists of multiple parts and needs to be slowly assembled to make it fit properly to each other as well as the forward and aft sections.
I selected this one first, because if it is not built right, the rest of the fuselage will be messed up. A note: Eric designed the fins and wings with an integral tab that was to be installed into the fuselage ( see the white section in part 6 ). However, I do not recommend it since it will not have a good fit later on and will show a gap. Eric did realize it and eliminated that feature on his subsequent designs. So leave the white parts as they are. Isaac

Hey Isaac,
Thanks for giving this one a shot. :-) That Metaseq screenshot you attached on your first post was actually an attempt at a re-design of this model. But I got distracted and eventually failed to follow through. Lots of interesting stuff at the Luft46 site still waiting to be honored in cardboard. Nevertheless, the Ente is still in my "for re-visiting" design queue. I've a question about the intakes. The ENTE 3-views were not very helpful in showing how those intakes really look like. The side view imply side intakes that stick out the fuselage. But the front view show a clean fuselage without any intakes sticking out. I was initially tempted to do the intakes similar to the ME P.1112. But eventually, I ended up with something in between. Last edited by eric_son; 07-06-2015 at 05:10 AM. Reason: typo |

I think that the inlet design was a sort of minimal protrusion to the cross section, and attempt at almost flush intakes. So if it was designed today, it would have NACA scoop. The forward part of the Ente inlet looks like the SAAB Lansen side inlet without the large cheek. Isaac

The rest of the fuselage
The progress should be in the aft direction and then to the front using part 6 as the center
Aft parts Rest of the aft sections The landing gear bay is beefed up with extra card on the inside. Forward sections and nose: and the fuselage is done note that the nose gear well is not inserted at this time. I will add internal structure for the gear. Isaac

Wings
The wings are simple one piece rounded around the leading edge and glued at the trailing edge. My change here was to eliminate the attached large tabs and use my traditional wood spars instead.
Wood spars One wing on Both wings The forward wings will be built the same way. This is a very quick build model. Isaac

Forward wings
The forward wings ( canards ) are built the same as the main wings. Notice the wood spars used instead of the tabs in the kit.
Both are on Isaac
