Thanks for the nice replies and comments gents. It's good to see some of my friends from the Fiddler's Green forum here too. I feel right at home. CT, the bases are my own design. I used MSPaint to make black on white outlines, and then I texture them with different wood grain patterns downloaded from the net. I try to pick something that will complement the color of the airplane. For the Vindicator base I used one of carrier decks from the download section over at the Zealot forum, reduced to 1/72 scale. The name plates are also done in MSPaint. When I submitted my original post I somehow forgot to include the model that started me on my Fiddler's Green kick - the Brewster F2A Buffalo, also in 1/72 scale.

My hand at a baby F.G. Nieuport-28, scaled out to about 1:97 scale...I think.

Very nice Nieuport, CT, and so tiny! I've yet to attempt a FG Bi/Triplane. I bought the WWII collection right before Chip started the site redesign. Unfourtunately, there were problems instituting all the changes, and with all the problems I decided to wait until I was confident that I would actually be able to access what I paid for. I believe that all the issues at FG are finally resolved. In the interim, I bought about a dozen of der Kampfflieger's 1/72 WWI birds, but have only built one so far - the LFG Roland D.XVI. I can't seem to escape from the '40s when it comes to cardmodeling.

Thanks rockpaperscissor!
Kampfflieger also has some great armor in 1:72, and I have a dive bomber from him too but have not built it yet. I got his RAF type truck and his Laffy white 50 armored car, both great builds! I have gotten a couple of models from Fiddlers green just last week and all went well. Their latest e-mail says that everything is fixed! With FG models I am really starting to like shrinking them! |

Bump...
Sorry for the old bump but, I didn't want to start a whole new thread. I completed my first fiddlergreen model this weekend and it came out OK, but not as crisp as I would like. I had to push on the wings a bit to get them somewhat straight. I was wondering if someone could enlighten me on how to the the wings on really straight. See the fuselage is completely round and the the wings where they meet are more square. So it seems that they want to have a tendency to point downwards given where they mount on the model. I think I could either do the following: 1) Cut into the main fuselage a bit to ease the top part of the wing in or 2) alter the wing so the end isn't square where it meets the fuselage Anyone have any thoughts, or explaination how you did your's rockpaperscissor? The other part is the nose cone. I think I'll have to scratch build that as the one they had is overly complicated and only looks ok when done. For now it's good enough to hang in the garage, but I'd like to have another go at it to make one I could display a bit more with my others. |

Nice F2A. And I'm always glad to see this thread pop up. I never get tired of seeing Don's models. He is one of the real FG masters and I await his response on the buffalo wings.

Very nice FG builds. It nice to see them taken seriously, they can be built into some excellent models if time is taken to do them correctly.
Thanks for the picts. Swampfox |
